My name is Susan, and this is my Testimony…

My father was in the Coast Guard for 2o years, and I was born in Cheboygan, Michigan.  We were moving a lot when I was small.  My parents bought a home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, I was about ten years old.  Including my parents, there was 11 of us total.  We were very poor when my dad retired.  He worked odd jobs, but then get a job at Brown and Williams Tobacco Company where he retired after 20 years.  My mom was a home maker.

I was very shy, and timid as a child, and into my adulthood.  That made things very difficult for me.  I met my husband on a blind date.  We were both 17.  Prior to meeting my husband my parents’ home burned, and I lost a brother when I was 16.  He was killed in a car accident.

My husband and I moved to Hodgenville so he could work on the family farm.  Several years later he joined the Air Force.  We moved a lot.

I had always believed in God.  I always wanted to find a small church, but my shyness and being too afraid of people kept me from going.

Many years later we were on the west coast to vacation in Washington State.  I planned on going to church for the first time with my sister and I did every Sunday while there.  I got to know the Lord more, and more, and I loved it.  I got saved there and got baptized.  How excited, and blessed I felt.  I know then I needed to find a church when we got back home.  I knew something was missing in my life, and it was Jesus Christ.

I was a terrible miserable person before I met the Lord, so unhappy and angry.

The time came to look for a church.  On my way home one day, I saw a big sign where I turn, and I thought, ‘I don’t remember seeing that before’ although it was always there.  Then I went a little further, and get another sign, and a little further another one.  They all said “The Grove Baptist Church”, 1718 Red Mill Road.  I thought that’s where I would go first.

As soon as Sunday came here, I go.  God led me exactly where he wanted me.  God wanted me to see the signs.  September, or October of 2019 I found everything I ever needed.  I was re-born at The Grove Baptist Church, January 30, 2022.

All the Glory to God.  I still have my battles, but I have so much love and joy.  God has healed me from so much.  My life has changed so much since I accepted Jesus as my Lord, and Savior.  My old ways of awful fear, stress, worry, and anxiety are pretty much gone.  I haven’t had peace like this in my life, and I don’t want to lose it.  I find comfort just knowing God is always with me.  I find peace and feeling closer to the Lord when I read my Bible, when I pray and when I listed to Pray.com.

I find my greatest hope in following my Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ the rest of my life.  Sharing the good news when I can.  Thank the Lord the something that was always missing in my life was found.

Truly a blessed gift.
